WEITBLICK

Internationales Festival mit Figuren

About the Festival

The new directors Alba Marina Scharnhorst and Miriam Paul have set themselves the target, together with the festival team, to bring top class international figure and object theater in all its forms to Braunschweig for the International Festival of puppetry - WEITBLICK. From intimate miniatures to opulent object concerts and virtuoso animation art, the audience can experience a week of theater in the city, on large and small stages and at specifically selected locations. There is something for young and old to watch and even participate. The Festival Café will be a space for meetings and exchange. We recommend everyone to keep their eyes open for the first harbingers of the festival and look forward to an exciting and inspiring festival week from October 7-15, 2022.

Educational program

The educational program offers a wide variety of audiences the opportunity to deepen their experience, to work creatively on their own, and to actively engage with what they have seen.

School Program - Workshop Upcycling Figurine Construction
In cooperation with Jugendkunstschule Buntich, students develop their own imaginative figures out of plastic (-garbage) after the performance of TRASHHH!!!.
Duration: 1.5 hours | Registration via Theater Fadenschein | Participation is free of charge.

Symposium day "Theater for the Very Young" for pedagogical professionals
The theater performance KREISE, the talk and the workshop with Michael Lurse, the player of KREISE, give an insight into this theater pedagogical focus. Starting point of the playful workshop are things of everyday life, their materiality, form, drama and playability are examined - because only the beginning has to be found. Reflection on the play and work processes developed in the workshop and their transferability to work with children will play an important role here.
12.10.2022 | 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. | at Theater Fadenschein | Registration via DialogWerk | Participation is free of charge

Artist talks
Moderated follow-up discussions to selected productions offer space for in-depth content and exchange with the artists. You are invited to question political backgrounds and aesthetic approaches and to gain exclusive insights into the working methods of international artists.

Scholarship program for students
For the first time, the Weitblick Festival is awarding festival scholarships to students as part of a nationwide networking program, thus enabling young professionals to participate intensively in this special international festival. Students of figure theater at the HdMK Stuttgart, of puppetry at the Hochschule Ernst Busch Berlin, and of performing arts at the HBK Braunschweig are invited to participate in the international exchange, to attend all performances, and to actively participate in the mediation program.
